Experience of studying abroad
Studying outside home country gave me exposure and increased social network as I got new friends from other countries. Now, I am assured of people who can host me when I travel to their countries. It also increased my knowledge through sharing life stories with professional and non-professional colleagues. This has changed the way I used to view certain things before coming to Mozambique.
It was difficult to cope with the environment, especially where people speak the languages that you have idea about. When I could go to the market, I would struggle a lot in order for the seller to understand what I want. In such a situation being extorted by the sellers would be inevitable. The first month in the country was the most difficult one as I could hardly pick any Portuguese word. However, the situation improved as we took on Portuguese language lessons and interacting with other people. High cost of living was also another challenge; I coped through adjusting my life style by only spending on those things which I cannot do without.
