I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to study abroad. Studying in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya was a life changing experience. I had no idea what I was getting myself into; luckily, it was very successful which exceeded my expectations. Even though it was the hardest decision I have ever made, I can honestly say it was one of the best things I have ever done.

Every day was a new adventure that was completely different from my life at home. The environment was a bit different from what I experience at home. There were also challenges and cultural norms I had to adapt to. I learned a lot from studying abroad including learning how to speak Swahili. It also made me to grow as an individual by allowing me to uncover hidden courage and to realize aspects of myself that I never thought I possessed. I also learnt how to study and learn from different teaching strategies which will greatly improve my studying/teaching habits at my home university.

I made friends with some Kenyans who took me to their homes/hometowns. I was astonished at their generosity and kindness and that made my experience very amazing. Through that I learned that developing strong relationships with people is one of the most important and rewarding thing in life.

Studying abroad gave me a new outlook and perception in life and other cultures around me. I hope everyone gets the opportunity to have a unique education abroad experience too. How important my time abroad was to me is something that I cannot express enough. It was truly an experience of a lifetime.

Thanking you.
